UKRAINE IS ONE OF THE KEY SPACES OF GLOBAL HISTORY THAT REMAINS LARGELY UNRECOGNIZED
WHO ARE WE?
The project explores Ukraine not as a periphery, but as an active center of historical processes that shaped the world over thousands of years. It was here that migration routes intersected, complex social structures emerged, and cultural and technological shifts took place whose impact reached far beyond the region. Through archaeological discoveries, linguistic traces, and historical sources, the project shows that the territory of present day Ukraine has been a space of continuous interaction between different civilizations. These processes were neither accidental nor local. They became part of global human history, which cannot be fully understood without this region. The project invites viewers to step away from simplified and imposed narratives and to see the past as a complex and living system of connections. It is an attempt to return Ukraine to its rightful place in world history and to understand how deep history continues to shape the present.
ARCHAEOLOGISTS, LINGUISTS, AND HISTORIANS APPROACH THE PAST FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES TO BUILD A SHARED PICTURE
WHO ARE WE?
The project brings together several disciplines that work with different types of knowledge and evidence. Archaeologists study the material traces of human life, linguists trace the evolution of languages and meanings, and historians analyze written sources and the contexts in which they emerged. Each of these approaches provides only part of the answer, but together they make it possible to see a coherent picture of the past. This interdisciplinary approach allows the project to move beyond a linear retelling of events. It focuses on long term processes that shaped societies over thousands of years. This is a history of changes in ways of life, interactions between people, technological development, and the formation of cultural connections. By combining material evidence, linguistic traces, and historical sources, the project presents the past as a complex system of interdependent processes. This approach makes it possible to better understand how deep history continues to influence the modern world and our understanding of ourselves.
